    $150 Sx

Hey guys, finally joined the trike club. Thanks for answering all of my silly questions the last few weeks. I ended up picking up the 85 250SX for $150. I drove 2 hours to pick it up. After talking to the guy on the phone he said it wouldn't start so he pulled the head and it had a stuck exhaust valve. The top end is still apart.

Well, it looks like it has a little more wrong than that. The handlebars are bent and the front brake lever is broken off. I haven't gone over it closely yet, got home last night, probably work on it this weekend.

The inside of the gas tank looks perfect, not a speck of rust. The cylinder (head off) looks GREAT !!!! It's not locked up. The cam and rockers "look" good. I'm taking the cam into work today to mic it out. Yah, it could probably use tires too. The tool kit is still there, with the owners manual and got a CLYMER manual too. (I have the HONDA MANUAL in PDF).

Supposedly everything works (lights, electric start, reverse, etc...) but we'll see. Well, I'll probably have more questions for you guys the further I dig into this so bare with me LOL !!!

    Later, Doug

I think $150 is a steal, even if you have to rebuild the engine, but then I'm partial to the SX.

According to the seller, he only owned it for about 6 months and bought it off of the original owner (supposedly a good friend of his). He claimed it was a "farm" trike and not ridden alot. It is pretty clean but "someone" had to bend the right handlebar and break the brake handle, LOL. Yah, it's pretty clean, does look like it's been babied most of it's life.

....and for the Pontiac, it's a 78 Trans Am, W72 400.....another project... I've got it apart for some floor and trunk pan work. Yah, I LOVE Pontiacs, OLDER Pontiacs mainly.

Yah, I only have the Clymer because it came w/ the trike. They work if it's all ya got. I've also found some major discrepancies in their manuals. I've already got the HONDA manual downloaded but thanks for the link.

After closer inspection, the top of the piston has a few spots from the exhaust valve. The exhaust valve was basically MIA...stuck my LOL. It "looks" ok though. I'll have to check compression when I get my new(used) head.

I bought a used head off of egay and some top end gaskets. I want to just bolt on and go basically. We'll see what happens.

This winter (unless I find out there's more wrong with it right now) I'll pull the engine, slap in a new piston, rings, hone, and redo the head. I'm just going cheap for now if I can get away with it.

Yah, I know the valve is toast because it's basically gone. I re-read my post above and something got messed up while I was editing. I meant to say the PISTON "looked" good. LOL That's why I bought a used head, the valve burnt, stuck, bent or whatever and the seat is kinda chewed. Luckily the piston has just a couple small nicks in it.

Yah, I started to post on here then found a head on egay for $60, pics look good so I jumped on it (supposed to be from a runner but aren't they all?)
