choke down = choke off, choke up = choke on. so down is off. that means the float needle valve is stickign open or it's dirty and needs rebuild. I woudl consider a cheap rebuild kit on ebay for under $20 shipepd to your door. it'll take you 1-2 hours to rebuild the carb including cleaning time and it'll run much better! there's only liek 10 parts in the kit so it's not a biggie.

Man, I would love to try to do that but I fear I will mess it up. I will order the kit and look at it first. Are there a lot of different carbs for this motor?

Also, I noticed an on/off "switch" on the top of my tank. I have never seen this on a motorcycle. When I turned it to on, I heard the air rushing in/out... could this have been my problem with the enging bogging down as there was no air coming in through the tank vent?

nope jsut 1 type. it fits all the 200s except the 200x.
200,200s,200e,200es and 200m are the same carb. the 185s is thew same carb but smaller jet size.

If your tank vent is closed, fuel doesn't flow near as fast into the carb. Eventually it will be slow enough to starve the motor and it will just stop running.

Ok... so that helped too... Now the thing is running JUST ABOUT PERFECT! It just seems to mis-fire when at the top end of a gear. This is tested on a long straight stretch, NOT what I would be normally riding.

Pretty awesome. I am hoping to get out to the trails this weekend.

sounds liek you need a plug and a jet change (1 step up richer) and your set.

Before you start messing around with jetting, rebuild the carb back to stock. You may not want to mess with jetting just yet anyways based on the fact that you stated you are not too mechanically inclined, not to mention it may run perfect of the carb is rebuilt. You start messing around with jetting on a dirty carb and you'll end up getting lost.

Thats good advice. I will probably just change the plug, and ride it this way for a while. I will order the carb kit, but will wait until I have something else break or I get my fill of riding in.

    Thanks all.

Finally got out for a ride. It was AWESOME. Started first pull everytime, the machine performed great.

I on the other hand am sore, and I struggled with a couple of steep spots with ruts made by ATV's. What is the best way to handle this condition going up AND down.

The machine definatly out performed me.

When I got back to the truck, and loaded the wheeler into the back I discovered my phone and tools bounced out of the "trunk" behind the seat. So, I unloaded and started back tracking. I came across two women walking about 6 dogs and they had found my phone and tools!

It was a great day getting muddy and having a good workout! I took pics in the sun and will upload them later.
