200s rear bearings and axle question

My friend just bought an 85 200s. His rear axle was moving inside the bearing carrier, so we thought the bearings were bad. Ordered new ones and they came in today. Took everything apart and it turns out the movement is in between the axle and inner race. What would be the best/easiest/cheapest fix for this, a new axle? Worse comes to worse we will just throw it back together like this and ride it till something goes wrong.

Any help would e appreciated by both me and my friend.

    Thanks,
    Josh

sounds like the bearing spacer is worn . You can make some large washers and see if that helps or find a good used spacer .

Is the bearing spacer the pipe that goes between the two bearing? If so, that is not the problem here. The inner diameter of the bearing is too much bigger then the axle shaft. I assume their should be a tighter fit there. Like if you hold the bearing on the axle, you can see a space all the way around between the bearing and axle.

So the axle is worn or the bearings are not the correct size??

I think the axle is worn. It has some pitting from rust. It may have been sitting apart, and rusted. Then to get it back together, the po might have sanded it making it a smaller diameter

Sounds like it's time for a new axle or just run it the way it is till you can find one cheap .

just weld a bead around it where it sits in the bearing and grind it down to fit tight again.
1985 big red 250es working good. 1983 200e waiting for new crank and rod. 200x project looking needing everything.

We used thread lock in between there, and it seems to work. We fired them up, and rode them around my little track that was all muddy. These things really bog down in just a few inches of water. I need to look into switching my front tire out, it liked to just push in the turns with the slippery mud.

    Heres a pic of mine

I have one. Just needs repaired and installed.
I just put the front end on this week. It had a honda cl100 motorcycle front end on it, that was only good for wheelies
