    1984 Honda ATC 70 Project! *UPDATED 9-14-09*

    ****UPDATES ON PAGE 2****

Got up at 5:30am this morning and drove 130 miles to get this little guy from a guy for $200. The only known problem on it was it needs an ignition coil. It didn't take me but 5 minutes to start tearing this thing apart to clean it and just go through it haha.

First thing I noticed was the throttle was sticking so I thought it might have been the spring in the thumb throttle housing but it was the carb....It was just stuck with gunk. I have never taken apart a 3-wheeler carb in my life and don't really know where to start. Can I soak it in something? Or should I just start tearing it apart and cleaning it? Can I use WD-40 or should I go get some carb cleaner?

Second up is the tires, the right rear tire has a hole in it and won't hold air at all so where is the best place to get some cheap tires?

The plastics, tank and seat are in great shape with minor dents or scrapes and it appears to have not seen much use at all. The only thing I am not pleased with is the stickers on the rear fenders, gotta take those off as they are flaking.

I got it to fit in my bmw wagon no problem, just loosened the handle bars and turned them down.

Another thing, the rear tires were mounted differently.....the right side (the one with the flat tire had the hub on the outside of the rim so the air valve was on the inside of the rim and the left one was the opposite.....Which is the correct way?

When I first got it in the garage:

You can see some of the gunk in there:

I just set the tank and plastics on, they are not bolted down or fitted:

I've worked on carbs on like RC cars and stuff but not trikes. And yes that's my 200x in the background but I have yet to take the car apart on it!

And we don't have tractor supply around here.....I was gonna order online or something.

Those sand tires and rims are going to be for sale, I never go to the dunes they just came with my 200x.

What's the best way to get rust out of the tank, it is not completely rusted but there is some in there. And Evaporust is good to soak the carb in? Just take off all the rubber fittings and such?

It looks you got a good deal to me. There isn't much to those carbs, just take it apart and spray it out with carb cleaner. Check the points, that could also be the problem. The coils rarely go bad with those.

Here is a link to the site for the stuff. 21.00 per gallon plus shipping but I am telling ya, worth it..... http://www.evaporust.com/ Like daddio said as well, carb cleaner and air will work but if it is like the junk I work on.....soaking is a better option for severe problem carbs. Rode the 2hundy in the sand yet?? It is safe for the seals and will work in the tank as well. Biodegradable, easy on the nose and hands!

Get yourself a POR15 tank kit. Don't waste your time or money with Kreem. Aerosol carb cleaner should be fine to clean up your carb. Most auto parts stores also have a gallon bucket of cleaner that works the best. They come with a tray you put your parts on and lower into the bucket to soak.

Yea he said they took it to a mechanic and it was getting very little to no spark and it needs a coil.

How long do I let the carb soak?

It also needs a new thumb part for the thumb throttle, it is stripped out and won't catch on the mechanism inside Anyone have an extra they want to sell?
