p.s. people are always saying to clean the screen on the petcock. I have tried to unscrew it in various areas but maybe im doing it wrong?? Also would a clogged filter make it so that the Off/On/Res doent work. It flows in all positions.

The part inside the petcock that directs the flow of fuel has probably busted so it won't turn anymore. You might have to find you another petcock that works.

So i finished rebuilding the carb about 2 hours ago and got her running. Put in a new plug and she fired on first kick. Couldnt believe it. Running on her own power now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFziW...er_profilepage

However I have 2 questions. I have a few parts left over that im not sure where they go. One of them is this. I believe it to be #4 the needle get vavle but if thats the case i have no idea how to get it out??? Also which was does it go in, has 2 different ends.

dude, thats a sweet find also, I was a little jelous when you found this, but now I feel better after scoring that 86. Its awsome there are nice trikes like that hiding right here in NY. Lovin the tank skin, back in the day my dads 85 had that same cover, ive only seen a few survivors, cool rare item!! We gotta try and get together and rip em, how far from albany are you?

The jet needle has to sit in that piece. There should be only one way it can go in. If you put the slide on the top, and look at the bottom, you will see the jet needle sticking down. That is where you install that piece #4 you have in your hand. It is easier to get the idea which way it goes if you already have the slide in place, and bottom of carb off, so you can see. Did the carburetor have this piece before, is it still in, or is it missing? If this piece is missing, the needle would be sloppy, and it would run REALLY rich and crappy. Good luck, and hope I am pointing you in the right direction.

Yamaha - thanks for the tip. I will try it again and see what happens. It currently does have one in but i wasnt sure how to get it out; let alone install it. Does it pop out?

Aldochina - LOL yes i have wanted a 350x since i was 18 and was on craigslist and ebay everyday looking at all the nice ones that pop up in florida and the like. Then my friend jeff saw this and told me asap and here it is. I just saw yours and DAAAAMN i am actually jealous because i wanted an 86, i like the colors better. we can trade Anyhow mine was found 6 miles away and the guy delivered it. Orig owner. I could go on and on. But from albany i think about 6 or 8 hrs. I live right by niagara falls. bout 10 minutes away. You have lots of area to ride? I would LOVE to go riding, 2 nice 350x's would be a great sight lol. p.s. go get yours registered!! I got mine done. Also i gotta post up some new pics. Since that tank cover has been on its whole life the tank is MINT!!

that sucks, your about as far away as one can be in the same state! oh well, maybe someday, i bet that tank is mint. Was there some kind of clear protectant pieces on the tank, couldnt tell in the pic. Ridng sucks here local, but if you load up and drive 30 min or so theres some good spots. For the registration, what exactly did they require, and how much? thanks

I dont mind driving The tank had the cover on it then foam to protect the tank and then he taped over the whole tank. So i put lighter fluid all over the tape to make it easier to peel and a coat of mothers wax and wowza. As to insurance i will get back to you on that. Im working out mine with my insuracne agent. The previous owner had plates on it and said it cost $10 all i need it my card that has the title on it, go the dmv (Assuming the insurance will register it. Tell them its a atv not 3 wheeler) and show proof of owner ship and thats it. did you get that x running yet? I cant believe the balls these things have. Barely crack the throttle and it stands up

Your post about the carb issues was interesting. I have a similar issue with my 350X and will check out the carb rebuild kit you mentioned. Can you tell me where you got it?

So here are some more pics. I still have yet to hit it with a pressure washer and blast all the dust off the engine. I cant believe how nice the front rim cleaned up in addition to the tank. Hope you enjoy.
