How too take out an 1973 atc axle

I was wondering if anyone can help me? I am trying to restore a 1973 atc 70. It was mine when I was a kid, and I am tring to restore it for my daughter. It is perrty clean. I have it all torn down but not sure how thw axle comes out. It looks like I have to hit it from one side and it should slide out???? Can anyone help me??? Thanks!

that service manual does not do anything for the 73 atc70 ... its alot different that the 78-85's . it takes alot more work to get the axle out of a 73,,, you have to remove a bearing plate and the covers and the center drum and axle all come out the same side,,, its a real pain,,, just remember where all the parts go when reinstalling,,,
