I see the square ones in the 200x manual. I see the 200s, 200es and 200m have a round one.

    Sort of the same problem

My grandson brought his 200x to me because it would run and then not run. Finally it died and he could not get it to start again. It gets plenty of spark, but when we try to kick start it, nothing. When we try to push start it, it seems to want to fire, but we get very loud backfire out to the exhaust and that is it.

Following another thread (that I cannot find again) on this discussion site I tried purchasing one of the $33 carbs that was rated highly here, it did nothing. I put fresh oil in it as the old oil was like mud. I adjusted the valves, cleaned the air cleaner, put a new spark plug in it, and did a visual of the ground wires. Nothing.

Someone was kind enough to answer my call for help by emailing me at home to suggest the timing and / or cam may be off. I will try that this weekend, however, my book only shows how to set the timing with the bike running. My new friend that emailed me at home gave me some basics on the timing (that I VERY much appreciate) but I am also opened to other input from others so that IF the timing is not the problem (or if I screw it up) I can look for other issues while I am in the shop.

    Thank you all,

Pull the spark plug wire off and test it for continuity - I had a problem with a bad terminal that drive me crazy until I found it. Also, you might bypass your kill switch and check for spark - if any part of the kill switch circuit is grounded, it'll kill the spark.

If it wants to fire, but all you get is backfire from the exhaust, your timing is off. Turn the engine to TDC (look for marks on the flywheel), the dot on the cam gear should line up with the notch on the cover. Check your cam chain tension, also - too much slack will move the timing too far off.
