83-85 250r atc carb adjustment help

I have just finished rebuilding the topend on a 83-85 hand me down 250r atc i was given. i also replaced the reeds on this trike with some new boyseen power reeds. i put everything all back together and now i notice when i get on it and ride there is no power band.. it boggs down in high rpms. . . but sometimes it catches the power band just slightly and takes off. so i know its something to do with the carb. any information u can point me in would be awesome. thank u.
