    my tri-z

heres my '85 tri-z..it has a yz motor, pretty much stock other than that. the guy i got it from raced it. it needs some work here & there. but good shape over all.
sor far i fond it needs....a yz kick starter, grab bar, fuel pump & an exhaust. the exhaust is pretty mickey moused, it uses what looks like a dirtbike silencer, the guy cut the tip of the pipe & welded another tip on. the fuel pump crapped out on it, but i would like to do i top mounted tank, ive heard a few people using zinger tanks?? how well dose that work & how do you mount it? thanks & heres some pics.

gotta love the chain lowering kit..but i took that off so its not lowerd any more.

also has the stock motor, heres some pics of it...or whats left of it..good for parts i guess.

    Nice Z

I have ALL those parts for sale.
Click the link in my Sig.
I even have the YZ kicker, somewhere.
I would have to dig for it.
    Even have a Zinger tank.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Bryan Raffa, on here has done it.
    PM him.
You will have to go with a clamp on filter at the carb, ditch the fuel pump, plug the vacuum line at the cylinder, and make a bracket to secure the tank under the air box cover.

personaly I wouldnt use the zinger tank, it only holds maybe a gallon of fuel.. I would get one of the board memebrs or a local fab shop to make you a top mount tank... 1 gallon dosnt get you much ride time.

^Thats exactly what my motor looked like that I got with my tri z. I fugure mine did it because the flywheel key sheered, and the guy pull started it and rode it like that. It had advanced firing, and eventually broke the con rod in half, and the force broke the sleeve, and went right through both center cases. I have seen a couple other tri z's the same problem. Not good at all..... Nice Z project, and it will be a blast to ride when you get it going.
