To answer one of your questions - a 350X in stock form is a perfect trail machine - nothing needs to be added. I took my 350X to the UP on my honeymoon for trail riding in and around the town of Garden. Had a freaking blast.

Also - WELCOME to the boards!

well made it back. i should have pic's in the next day or so.

the machine was found on craigs list. i've had a hell of a time finding a 350x up here in upper michigan and i HAD to have one befor winter, so i jumped on it. $800 guy said it ran last year but burned oil and smoked. i told him $750 i'd make the trip he said okay. once i got there i asked if there were any cracks in the frame he said no, i took off the plastic/seat and checked it out and found a crack about 9" up from the rear foot peg bolt, guy said he didn't know about it. i managed to get him down another 50 bucks and i figured i came all this way, so i loaded it up and handed him $700 bucks. i kicked it over a few times to make sure it wasn't locked up but didn't start it, the oil stunk like gas bad.

my plan was to buy a $200 clunker 350x and redo it this winter, so the frame sucks but i should be able to get one on ebay. heres the good stuff that came on it.

    good:
    new front fender
    new rear fender
    new clarke plastic tank
    new EMGO bars
    new grab bar
    DG pipe
    tires good, kenda/F holeshot/R

bag of extras:uni air filter, emgo oil filter, gromit kit,new seat cover, copper exaust rings.

    the bad:
    cracked frame
    rings shot
    forks need rebuild
the switchs on the handle bars is broke
    seats tore

i plan on either full rebuild or i gotta see about this brand new 350x motor i got a line on. as for the frame i was going to powder coat or rino line anyway and was thinking about doing gussets.

it took about $120 in gas and $50 for a motel so i got around $850 into it.......oh and i forgot to mention i was able to fund this by selling a truck i bought for $100 bucks & underwater fishing camera for $650!!! so half of it was kinda free money :-)

some may think it's crazy to have gone thru that for a machine (my parent said i'm crazy to go drive that far for a 3wheeler). the 350x's are just getting more and more rare with every one that gets stripped and parted! i plan on NEVER selling so in the long run it should pay off!

took a little while but i got the pic's. i put in a few of the frame where its cracked, but i sent a email to a member on here and he gave me a quote on fixing it and adding gussets as soon as i get the cash i'm sending it out. i also threw in one of my 86 250sx.

as soon as i sell my 01 blaster i'll be able to start buying stuff for the x. i wanted to buy black fenders for it but i guess i'll go with white fenders and black since the plastics all new.

the guy i bought the x from said his buddy has a crate motor for it everything but the head and never been in a bike. i told him i wanted it if he can get it i havent heared back yet....how much is it to ship a motor?

gunna be my first tear down/ build up, should be fun. if that one goes well i might have to do the sx!

I can see the pics but they are chopped. Try uploading them to photobucket.com and then paste the links in your post.

Great to have another michigan bike in the works! My wife and i own three of the 350X and love every one of em! We are rebuilding hers right now! Pink is all over this rebuild so its been a unique build! as far as these new motors go, we bought one for her bike and it was well worth it, and only about $100 to ship! the motor we got was complete and still had the original carb on it! We had the motor painted a real light grey and it freakin looks awesome! Great to have you aboard! if you dont have a repair manual for it, get one on ebay! it will save you tons of money doin most the work yourself!!
