350X Exhaust Studs Help Please !!!!

ok about 6 months ago i ran into this problem...out of the 4 studs i got 2 out the other too i let the machine shop do...believe me it was worth it i spent 12 hours trying to get the 2 out...i sprayed them with about 2 cans of blaster...i also heated them...and i used the tighen loosen method for several hours on both...so try it and see how it works for you...even if you only get 1 or 2 out that reduces the bill at the machine shop...but if you stick to it you will get them all out ...i just dont have the patience

I just got my motor back from the machine shop, they drilled, tapped, and heli-coiled all four holes. It only cost 60.00 bucks, well worth it. Now I am wondering if I should go with oem studs, or stainless bolts, cut to length?

I use fully threaded SS bolts, chopped the head off and used SS nuts and washers on the stud I make.....

Zinc coated plain fastners will seize up again in time.

You got out of that very cheap!!

Thats the next thing I have to fix on my motor. Everytime I think about ripping it apart I end up wanting to go riding.

use anti seize on the threads and it won't matter if you use stainless or standard bolts. i have used both and with anti seize i never had any trouble.

You may have trouble finding them long enough.

I have a bag of 50 in zinc coating (screwed up my order...)

And I think I bought 25 that were 50 or so mm long in 316SS....

also, if they are looking bad pull them out BEFORE they are one with your head.
