I forget who was doing these, "muddytrikekid" or something??

I imagine he doesn't have a diagram, and it was more of a cut and weld type deal.

Hey, YOUR the one with all these machines parting out . I think your gonna have to figure it out on your own......

If I had an 85 frame kicking around, I'd make it for ya, but I don't.....

I'd just try to figure it out, half arse weld one together and then get the specs from that "prototype". Then we can talk about machining one from scratch or welding something up properly and then machining it to spec.

I think your on your own with this one bud, but I'm pretty sure you have crap kicking around.

On another note, I believe this "mod" made them sit very high. I also don't think the 350X has the best suspension in the world unless you valve the shock. I'm 205lbs and I have a crate shock, it works well but the overall travel doesn't seem to be enough.

If you want to mod your 200X and you have the room, I get a 250R shock on there myself.

Just tossing out my thoughts to ya bud

the 350x suspension gives a 200x about 4 more inches travel height.im around 165 lbs so it will be plenty enough for me.my mig is still down and i hate asking ppl to use there tools and equipment, thats why i have been posting on here about the mount.

Does it give it 4"s of travel, or just make it 4"s higher......

I think it's quite a bit higher and TOO high and would affect the ride height IMHO........

To me, get a better shock and lift the arse an inch if need be, but anymore than that any your gonna feel it on the handling side.

Unfortunately, sometimes people (not meaning you bud) see something all jacked up in the back and think it rules. If it were that good a mod, I'd imagine allot more guys would run it or expirement with it.........

^ I tried this shock mount mod for my 200x a few years ago when I seen that post. I did it exactly as he did, and mine ended up super jacked in the rear end. The chain didnt line up right either, and would have come off / wore off the upper chain guides in a second. After that, I gave up and put a decent 200x rear shock on the back, and called it a day.
You would be better off doing somthing else to make this shock or another fit. I remember one thread where the guy used a 83'200x swingarm, which dosnt use the "dog bone" mount at all. If I remember correctly, this setup looked a lot better as far as how high the rear end was. It looked to be almost the same hight as stock. It involved some cutting and welding too. Good luck!

I've been away from the forums for a while and I just found this thread and feel it deserves a response from me.

Not a kid, I'm 39 yrs old and have been fab welding since I was 18. the picture attached to this thread was my prototype link, It was made by cutting and combining a 200x and a 350x dog bone. It's kinda sketchy so I can see where you were coming from. I made a jig from that one, and have made many from it, all tig welded.

If your talking about my trike, all I can say to that is, it sits the way I want it to.

Keep in mind that the rear shock is not the only mod that was done to my trike and I wouldn't recommend doing the rear mount alone. I have a 350x front, 350x rear shock, +4 axle and a +4 swingarm. I've increased the length and width of my trike so why not take it up a couple? I've gained about 2" from skid plate to ground, 4" from fender to tire (with rider weight), and tons of travel.

I don't know why yours would be jacked up super high when all of mine were made from the same jig? I have never thrown my chain or worn my chain guides. Something tells me you didn't get your mount from me. But if you did Id buy it back. I don't want anyone unhappy with something that I made for them.

What do you have to do to make the R shock fit on the X, and what years of R's fit what years of X's?
