How noisy are the motors? Also, it looks like it leaks/weeps some oil from between the head and jug. Would that be a gasket?

Somebody started a thread like this about this same machine a couple months ago. I'll tell you what I told him. When I was younger my buddy had a quadrunner 185 (same engine as the ALT). The valves were very loud in it, but it ran that way for a long time. One day it did eat a valve, but if remember correctly it was loud even after we rebuilt the top end. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Yeah, this thing is like ting, ting, ting. You can hear them from about 50 feet away.

Yes, that would be the gasket.

my alt125 has only 800 miles on it and is pretty clean and unabused. It also is kind od loud to me.......more so than any Honda I have........ runs awesome though.
