still won't hold up in court. a bill of sale is BS without a title. It's sorta of a good faith agreement. My buddys trike was taken by the fuzz. he came in with a bill of sale and was told " Sorry thats nice but thats not legal" Without a legal title he could not get the bike back. But it could be diffrent in your state
Thanks Eric. Levi, I'm more worried about them messing the machine up and coming back to me and asking for their cash back. I'm straight up with them about the machine at the time of the sale, but there are people that will try it. This is just to try to protect me.
There's one here also, posted by.

RIP Trace.. Godspeed.
another thought on selling a trike, if a person wants to test ride it, especially if it doesnt have a title and can be confiscated if the rider is riding in a residential area. Tell the buyer, pay for the trike and give a bill of sale. if the guy doesnt like it on the test ride you give a full refund. If the guy that wants it happens to get pulled over, and the trike gets impounded, its his trike and he deals with it, if the guy does something dumb and hits it, or hurts himself, its his trike, not your problem. jim

In PA you need to have the title notarized when it is signed. I bought a car in PA but all the way out by Ohio. When I went to the DMV in NY to register it they informed me that I couldn't register the car without the title being notarized. Luckily I worked at a dealer and the lady that was a notary was way cool and stamped it for me even though it was supposed to be signed by the seller in front of her.
You might want to check the spelling on that bill of sale if you intend to use it. I know for a fact that guarntee is spelled guarantee and merchandice is merchandise. Honestly, I don't think there's any reason to have that whole line about received in good condition, the state doesn't give a crap about the condition its in and if you buy something that's not in good condition then you'll have to change it. I'd also add lines for the buyer and seller to print there names and addresses.
As for a bill of sale having no legal meaning, if you get caught by the cops riding a machine that was stolen at some point then that paper is proof of who you bought it from. It might keep you from having the theft charges pinned on you. Also, at least in NY, if you have an ATV (or PWC or maybe even a dirt bike) that you have no papers for, you can bring a digital picture of the VIN along with a bill of sale and a DMV form filled out by the previous owner and get a non-transferable registration. Then when you renew the registration after a year the next one will be transferable so you can sign the back of the registration to transfer ownership to someone else. I've done this with both my 350X and my Polaris PWC.

Thanks for the spell check John. I'll change that. In Indiana you don't have to have a title notorized anymore unless its an old one. As far as trikes and dirt bikes go, when I bought my son a new 04 crf150f, there was no title for it , so I don't know what size bike they start giving titles for. As for the " in good condition " line, you make a good point.
For whatever its worth, I've gotten trikes titled down here with nothing more than a scratch piece of paper with the 2 names, the vin #, the price, and what the make model year of the machine was. Nothing else.
heres what i say...
