barn find 85ATC70**in the "St. Nick" of time!!**

Things have a way of working out! After that guy screwed me out of the TRX70, 2 days later I came across this!! guy said make him an offer! I offered him 250.00 he said come get it!! Hasnt been registered since 92. This guy got it from original owner, he said he let his buddy use it to teach his kid to ride, dude brought it back and said he busted the pull rope. hasnt moved since!! looks great, tank is a little faded, tires are shot. Inside the tank is spotless. Fix pull cord, and clean carb, and i'm sure it will fire right up. Is there a way to start these without the pullstart. I want to try to get it going for christmas. I no nothing about these, but it looks simple enough. Whats the cheapest place for tires? Let me know what else you see that may need addressing. Brakes and bearings seem great! Enjoy the pics.

Appears someone rode through some paint at some point. a few spatters here and there, should come off with some effort.

I got Kenda Scorpians for mine, but they are alittle pricey... Innova makes some that are almost an exact match to stock for $27.95ea. You can get them from your local dealer if they deal with Advantage Performance. I work for Advantage out here in WA as an outside sales rep. If your dealer doesnt its easy to get set up just have them go to www.orderapd.com and print the dealer app and send it in. Nice find btw!

to start without the pull start you can wrap a rope around the metal cage that the recoil catches on, or you can have a person push you in neutral and then put it into first once you get enough speed

If you put it gear put dont release the shifter. Have someone push you. Once you are moving quick enough release the shifter. Those 70 pullstarts are easy to fix. You can rerope one in 5 min or less. As long as the spring is not broken.
By the way thats a very nice 70.

thanks for the congrats! Crazyman, thats quite the 70 stable you got!! Good thing is they dont take up much room! Thanks for the hints on starting. I have to remove the pullstart cover, and see how it looks. I have to find a pull start handle!! Thanks Mike for the manual!! I'm gonna mess with it a bit when I get out of work tonight. Do you take the rims apart to get the tires off, or do they pop off like a regular tire? never delt with hte split rim set-up!

rims are split with rubber o-ring. You may need lots of dishsop and water to soak and break the beads. I wirewheel the rim bead and the entire center of both rims. Check for burrs as well and gouges on o ring mating surface. I always use some rtv silicone on center oring. Let it tack a bit......clean o-ring with blaster and a rag and let it sit for a while. Seat tire on one side of rim with lots of soap and water, your gasket facing up at you on bottom rim. Align top rim carefully making sure it is centered. Tighten evenly. Blow er' on with no air chuck too seat the bead......good luck

I'd check at your local Honda shop for original Ohtsu tires. Should be around $23-28 each. The original Ohtsu's are the best all round tire.

I dont get why people say to put it in a high gear to push start things. Wont the engine spin faster in first than it would in 3rd at the same speed? Maybe it's less stress on the trans once you pop it in gear at speed?
