    performance for 200s

Im restoring a 200s for a friend and rebuilding the motor. It has a open airbox with a k@n and a dg exhaust. Im planning on puttin a 10.5 compression piston in it with a 200x cam and a 12t front sprocket. Are these good mods for it? Any other ideas?

yea past that it's going to cost a lot. you may want to look at getting a XR200 carb off ebay for like $35. they are 28mm vs the 24mm stock and 26mm 200x.,

Thanx guys. Ordered the piston. So a 200x cam is an improvement? What about a xr200? What years do I look for and what years xr200 carb works? Will it bolt right on?

the xr200 cam is better than the 200x. but remember those are stock so they are only "slight" improvements.

you can get a web can, performance springs, titanium retainers, hardened rockers and gain much better performance. the web stage1 is better than an xr200 and does not require hardened rockers or springs and retainers.

it really comes down to how much $ do you wanna spend will determine how fast it will go.

don't forget the clutch and springs.

xr200 carb will bolt right on, you probebly want a 80's to early 90's carb. yes it bolts right on.

Welll he doesnt want to spend too much so it will have to be cheap. Will an xr cam drop right in with no other mods needed? Will the xr carb be too much for these mods?

The xr cam will drop right in. It is the same cam with different lobes. The carb will bolt right up and give you more power. If you aren't afraid to pull it, get the 10.5:1 piston you mentioned, the xr cam, and the xr carb. The bike will make decent power and be fun to ride.

One thing to watch out for, at some oint, honda had a dual carb xr200. Don't get any parts off one of those as they may be different

I think any year but the 84-85.
In 84-85 Honda got crazy, they didn't just put two carbs, but also 4 valves. So each carb had its own intake, and their was 2 exhaust headers. From all my limited reading, this setup is not as good as the other years, and as far as I know, it won't fit our engines anyways.
