    No power!!!

Im the guy who wrote the post hard to start, backfire. Got the 250SX. I redid the timing about 10 times and got it the best its going to get. Just a hair off. Redid the clearances. Still kind of hard to start and backfires a bit, but seems to be a little better. Anyways, it bogs out bad when I give it gas! I could barely even get into 2nd gear. The carb has been jetted. Do you guys think it could just be an adjustment?

By the way, I pulled the plug, and it was carbon fouled. Still works, but fouled pretty bad.

Ya, I figured that. Would that cause it to run like that? As I said, it was not possiable to get the timing on perfect no matter what I did. Just carb issue I hope?

I don't know. I took it a shop to get it rebuilt and jetted, then bolted it in. Don't know much about carbs.

Put a fresh plug in. My BR is very picky about having clean a plug...

    Check your carb adjustments.

Pilot screw - 2 turns out

Needle clip - 2nd groove from top.

^^^ Along with what Mike said, check to make sure your jet sizes are close to correct. I had gotten a rebuild kit from Dennis Kirk that came with the wrong primary jet size for my BR. Came with a 180 instead of the correct 45...

If you paid money to have a real shop rebuild it, and you're not comfortable taking the carb apart, I would bring the machine to them and tell them it needs to be adjusted. Sounds like its running too rich to me.

But if you are doing the timing and cams, the carb is really simple. Check you're adjustments, did they give you your old jet back? Could see if it runs better with the old one.

I'm not kidding, its not possiable! I get it right on and when I put the tensioner on, it throws it out a bit, no matter what you do. Its probably the same as it was before because it was a bit off too when I took it apart, but it ran good. Probably going to bring it to the shop. I hope its just the carb. It bogs at low throttle and off the start, but once it gets past about 1/4 throttle, its good.

Sounds like they didn't get your carb right, but really if you can do the upper end the carb is easy. Kinda sounds like its just set too rich.

You could turn the mixture screw in, counting how many turns you get before it stops, and then turn it out 2 full turns. Worst case scenario is it still won't run great.
