1984 Yamaha 225 dx Front axle...Grease?

I had to replace the front tire and I noticed the front axle had grease on it. I thought it has sealed bearing on the front. Am I wrong? I wiped the grease off (I also adjusted the brakes which are almost worn out) and now I have a pretty bad squeal I have only ridden it once for about ten minutes so I have not really been able to readjust the brakes, but I would like to know do I need to put grease back on that axle? Or did someone put grase on an axle with sealed bearings? Also does anyone know the front axle torque specs?

put the grease back in.it will help control rust.look at other post where people have to beat the crap out of something to get it apart.i over grease everything with a cavity.
