    Engine Serial Number - YTM200??

I was just wondering if there is a way to determine what my ATC is, based on what it says for the serial number on the engine?

I am pretty sure that my atc is a ytm200; it is a 200cc yamaha (chain drive)

For some reason I cannot see the serial number on the frame... dunno what the deal is (I looked for it where my service manual said to, but the service manual is for the ytm200e, which is the shaft drive version, and I just have the ytm200 chain drive)

So does the serial number on the motor tell me what the ATC actually is? And if so, does anyone know what the numbers mean?

Here is the serial number on the engine: 21V-023112

Also, I have 2 engines, both of which I think are ytm200 (chain drive version) motors. Both of them start out with the 21V, but some of the numbers are different after that, towards the end.

Does the 21V part of the serial number on the engine signify what the motor goes in? (IE: the ytm200 chain drive, or the ytm200E shaft drive etc)??

    Thanks for any info!!

    21V-023112 = 1983 YTM 200

The serial number is on the frame neck.

    Hmmmm thank you.

For some reason I seem to have a carb from a 1984 or 1985 ytm200; it is the one that bolts onto the intake rather than clamping on.

Didn't the ytm200 from 1983 have the clamp on carb??

And more importantly, is it ok to use the vm22sh (the one from 1984/1985 ytm200's) on my 1983 ytm200 motor (ytm200k)

Also, is the head and the cylinder the same on all years of the ytm200??? (ytm200k,l,m - NOT the shaft or reverse version 3 wheeler)

Yes, the '83 200K had a clamp on carb (let me know if you want my 200K carb or head that I have F/S)!
Yes, it should be okay to use the vm22sh carb on your 200K but they may have a different jet or needle that should be swapped.
Not sure if the head is the same on all years of all the 200's Yamaha made but I do know the 200K has the identical part number for the head as the 225DX uses... only diffenence is the compression release lever and maybe the cam grind. Again not sure one the jugs but I would think they're all the same on most of the 200's! Do like I did and compare schematics and part numbers on bikebandit.com
