1982 ACT110 seat recovering question *Project complete*

I got a new seat cover for my trike and the instructions state that I should staple the cover on. The pan is metal and it's got metal "teeth" that are holding the current cover. I'm guessing the staples won't have much affect on the metal pan (solid without any hint of rust). Does anybody have any tips on recovering using the teeth?

if the teeth are worn or missing you can use pop rivits or button head short self tapping screws .

They're all good. I guess I just have to install it like any other seat cover and hope I don't make any mistakes since there's no staples to pull out and move.

eBay. $30 shipped. After finding these people, I might've been just as far ahead to get them to do it for me.

Maybe I'm retarded but I don't see a thread on seats in there. Did it maybe not make the move over when the software changed? There's only 29 threads there. I did a lot of searching yesterday and came up with mostly threads on doing a 250r seat, which has a different pan and can accept staples.

i went to find it and i dont see it either,im also retarded.it was a great thread.the only advice i can give is dont bend those teeth to much they will break off.bend the teeth out just enough and remove the old cover.make sure that the new cover is very warm before stretching over the pan.also repair the foam seat pryer to recovering, any defects will show through.start at one end and go around the pan with the new cover using a hairdryer or heat gun to warm and pull the cover tight.those teeth on your pan will poke through the new cover,no need to premake holes for it.just poke them through.bend the teeth back as you go one by one.

Well, I got it done. I was really nervous about tackling this and messing up the cover. It really wasn't that bad though. I strayed a little from the advice about starting at one end and going around. I started at the front and moved down each side the same amount so I could try and keep the seams symmetrical on both sides. That went OK. The one side is off a little from the other but only by a little.

I just need some new decals for the rear fenders and it's about as nice as I'm going to make it I think.

I had to delete the "Seat how to" thread when I moved some Pic hosting links. I am in the works of re-doing that thread now.
Sorry about that. I did not get into the steel pans either,in that thread.
The steel pans are usally pretty easy with a made to fit cover.Easier than plastic pans even. The hard part is getting a good steel pan to use.
You did a great job. Turned out very nice.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Thanks guys. Hopefully others will see this and not be afraid to tackle the project. It looks like I'll be picking up a 200 of some sort that has a much worse seat on it with the same style of pan so now I know how to do it.
