    Replace rear end bearings...special tools?

I'm going to attempt to put new rear end bearings in my 86 Honda ATC125M and my 1984 Yamaha 225DX. I've never done this before.

Any special tools required? I've heard it is not an easy job, but others say it is.

Any difference between the Honda and they Yamaha in terms of procedure? Will the rear suspension on the Yamaha make it easier or harder to do?

    Thanks kindly,

I've done a few Yamahas, the procedure itself is easy, follow the manual.

Every axle has been stuck though, took alot of Kroil, they finally came out.

I have a 125m manual, if you need one.

Thanks...for the 125 I actually have the OEM Honda FSM so I should be good. Appreciate the offer though!

I'm worried this beast has seen a lot of mud...so she might be a SOB.

Do I just use a and a flat head screw driver to remove the bearings? I'll give the manual a read before I ask more stupid questions ;-) I'm more comfortable about the procedure now! I just thought there was special tools required.

    Thanks all!

As per the service manual...seems this is something perhaps I can't do myself. Is the shaft drive what makes it so difficult?

Has anyone done the bearings on a 225DX?

What is a "suitable driving tool"?

    What is a "suitable grease"

    Thanks!
