    carb issue on Yamaha YTM-200K

Can't get the choke disconnected from my carb...loosen the 14mm nut on the carb, but the cable and choke parts won't come up and out...the choke does move via the choke cable, so it's not stuck inplace, just won't come all the way out of the carb.

    Did I miss a step?

    any help would be great...thanks

When i took mine out on my ytm200, it moved but was real tough and took alot of force to get out... I took a little wire bristle brush to the carb and choke piece after it was out and it goes in and out fine now, it was just a little dirty and corroded on mine.

OK, sounds like I didn't miss a step, that's good...so it's just stuck...I don't have any PB Blaster, but I am soaking it with Gumout Carb and Choke Cleaner instead. I can loosen the nut and expose the spring and that all for now...let's see what happens after the Gumout soaks for awhile. Thanks for the help

Ok, it's been soaking with PB Blaster since friday mid-day (now it's late sunday evening) and the choke is still stuck in the carb...now what?
The cable is moving when I move the choke lever, can't see if the choke plunger is moving, or not...is it possible for the cable to move and not the plunger?
    What's next? Dynamite?
    thanks,

isnt there a oring on the choke...carb cleaner will swell that oring. you can carefully get in there with a pair of needle nose pliers and try to pull it out with that.

    still stuck...oh well
Question: when the choke (starter plunger) is all the way down inside it's shaft, is it in the "full open choke" position? I think it is.
Anyway, if so, the bike should still run, just really hard to start...right?
I managed to move the choke to it's full down position (and still soaking in PB Blaster) and maybe put the carb back together and see what happens.
Anyone has a replacement carburetor for sale...I might need one.

I had one stuck like that.

I took the whole thing off the bike and clamped the choke cable in the vise, pulled the carb with both hands and it came out. Toasted the cable. Beat looking at it for another week.

    Thanks Mike,
Putting the cable in the vise sound like a good idea, I might try that.
The carb is removed with cable still attached.
What about the position of the choke plunger, is all the way down..."open choke"? And if so, would it start like that...looking at some worst case situations.
I figured since I did move the plunger about 1/8 inch, PB Blaster should get in that area.
    Thanks for your advice...

    Down the choke is off.

I had a YTM carb with a broke cable too, I threaded a screw right into the top on the plunger and worked it out with vise grips.

Well...it's done. Got the plunger out of the carb, cleaned things up and now it runs better now than it has for years.
Used MonroeMike's idea on putting the cable in a vise and pull hard on the carb body...it works. Thanks to all that help.

Hey do you guys know which carb goes with the ytm200k? All my manual says is Mikuni VM22. I guess i need to know if a VM24 would fit, and also if anyone knows where I can get one (original or aftermarket)

    Thanks
