1985 honda 250sx with no spark????

i have purchased a 250sx that has been turned into a go kart but.. it has no spark i have tried many times and have given up i have a wiring diagram and have followed and i havent been able to find the problem. when i push the start button it doesnt do any thing (its not the start button) i have to put a spanner over the solinoid to wind the starter over i cant wind the motor over this way because i am missing a cog but i can wind it over on the kick starter but still no spark.. if anyone can help PLEASE if you could post a list of things it could be so i can try them all

easy thing to check first is grounds there is a ground on the right side that is it isn't grounded well it wont give spark.

There are 2 switches coming out of the bottom of the right side case. One is for neutral and one for reverse. The left one is neutral. You can unhook the wire from the switch and ground it to the frame if you can't get it to work any other way. I had to do this on my Big Red. Whatever in the bottom end that is supposed to let the cdi know the tranny is in neutral was not doing its job so I got no spark.
