225dx not getting oil to top end

I put a new set of rings on my 1984 yamaha 225dx, and now there is no oil getting to the top end. Can someone explain to me how the oil runs to the top end? I have pulled the oil pump, what should I look for to see if this is bad? What else could cause this problem? Thanks

How did you determine no oil was getting to the top end? Check the oil passages for debri, or sometimes people use rtv and excess will block the flow.

Well when I tore it down the cam sprocket had no oil on it and the cam had siezed to the bushing. Could this be from just overheating? The sprocket was blued. I just want to fix the problem for the next time. I don't see any passages being blocked by RTV as I didnt use any. I will check others though. Thank you so far.

Thanks, Mike, that is very helpful. I'll have to tear it down again and make sure I did not block anything.
