    YTM200 help

I getting ready to get a cheap YTM200 and I need help with a few questions. The front and rear fenders are factory colors but they are dark blue. Has anyone ever seen this color on a 200 before? There is no tank cover and it is going to be hard to find one in that color. Also it is a chain drive, so I assume it's a 1983 but the carb is a bolt on instead of the rubber sleeve intake kind that is on my buddies 83. I assume they swapped heads on it. Also missing a seat. Any help finding one would be great.

    Thanks.

I have never seen dark blue plastics, I doubt if they are factory colors.

83 - 85 YTM200's are chain drive. Yours is probably a 84 or a 85, since it has the bolt on carb.

    Post up the VIN.

I agree with Mike. They made a light blue model, but not a dark blue one. Seems like the bolt carbs was just 83, or just on the chain drives??

350inNy the light blue model is only in a 225dx the 200e is not in blue it only comes in yellow. and the 84-85 model is shaft the same as my bike. I have a 1985 yamaha dr 225, every part on that 200 is interchanable with mine. I got a hub of my friends 200e and it works perfect. 8"hub. 3 bolt.

His is not a 200E, the 200E is shaft driven, and electric start. The chain drive models dont have electric start, pull start only, and are known as the YTM 200K. I believe there are some sky blue 200E's (light blue) because I have seen one in person, and came from the factory like that. Post some pics!!

Thanks for all the input guys. Upon further inspection the plastics were painted and were originally light blue. I pick it up next week and am thinking about parting it out. It's in decent shape but it needs the expensive parts like a seat, yes the whole seat is missing, and the recoil. If I could find those for less than I paid for the bike, $100, I might fix it. I will post the VIN when I get it to determine the year.

I just cant justify buying a $100 trike and putting $400 into it and having a trike thats still a beater with bad painted plastic and is worth $300.

Then why buy it at all? If your just going to buy it to part it out that is pointless, at least save it for someone esle that will restore it or at least do something to it.

Why are you so angry at me? I need the parts to fix a buddies YTM that we are bringing back from the dead. The rest will be sold. It's not like I'm buying a complete runner. Its a spray bombed, half there, guy says it will run (even though the spark plug wire is bare wires at the end), no seat having, sitting in the rain, parts bike!

I didnt know you where buying it to put parts on your buds bike. He has a 200 to does he? And im not mad at you man it just really makes me mad, when people buy something and then tear it down and sell it. Like what is the point of that, but if your going to use it has a part bike for your buds bike, I see no problem with that, sry if I seemed mean.

thats a nice bike walkerallen. I didnt realize there was so many other letters at the end. Like I thought there was only a 200e, 200x, etc, I have never heard of 200k or 200n. what does that mean what year it is?
