    250es wiring question

On the crankcase, behind and below the starter is a ground wire. What does the other end go to

I'm sure this is stupid question, but I haven't got a service manual yet

    Thanks
    Tom

Ain't no stupid question to me ! I have a manual and was not sure about it looking in there so i went out and had a peek at my 85 Bigred.
It is the main ground wire that leads back to the battery negative terminal. Or another way of saying it is the battery is grounded to engine.
That is if I traced it correctly w/o taking seat, side panels off and flipping up the fenders,,,

Thanks, that was my thought too except for one thing. I found a wiring diagram on line and it shows 1 (one) wire off the battery, but I have the one I was talking about and another big wire like it but with a black cap that goes over the batt terminal as well as one with a red cap. I have never been much with electrical so this kind of stuff frustrates the hell out of me.

I would imagine that wire you describe go from starter to selinoid.
I reckon i could go take a picture or two if ya want.

I would really, REALLY appreciate that. straight down from the top, and a few of the left side if you could.

    Thank you
