Chain adjustment on 110 atc help

So i have a 1984 110 atc that i picked up about a month ago, i love riding it around the power line trails of the area, and it keeps up fine with most of the bigger newer quads too. when i first picked it up it had a few issues, but now it only has one, the chain is loose. i loosened up the four main bolts holding the axle where it is, but i think im missing some sort of alignment bolt or tensioner bolt, because it looks like theres an empty place for a bolt to go and there's no way to keep the axle oriented straight or anything, and to tighten the chain right now u have to brace yourself against the frame and pull on the axle... i doubt this is how your supposed to do it. ill put up a closeup of the rear end so someone can tell me whats up. Any suggestions? thanks in advance
