    '85 Yamaha tri-z 60cc

Hi guys, found what I'm guessing is a tri-z 60cc three wheeler. It is an '85 model according to the frame tag. I done a search on the internet and found pics that look like mine. Bought it for $40.00, all tires hold air, took it home, put gas in it, and it ran! Plastic not busted, just bad paint job, seat in decent shape, its shaft drive. My question has to do with the centrifugal clutch, as there is no gear shift, you just push the gas and it goes! Don't seem to have any power, you have to push it to get it goin, is there a clutch adjustment? This is a two-stroke, what should my gas mixture be? Also no airbox, will have to fab one up! Any info from anyone on this trike? Sorry for lengthy post, pics will come later!!

The YT 60 should have plenty of power. Have you checked to see if the rear break is locked? Pick the rear up and see if the wheels spin freely. If that is not the problem, it could be the lack of aribox. There is a airbox on Ebay right now for cheap. Search "Yamaha Zinger". $40.00 is a great deal!!

Exhaust is common to plug on the zingers as well... Pop the silencer off, and drill a 1/2 hole into the expansion chamber... There is a screen in there that gets plugged up with carbon. The ZZingers also were oil injected, so you shouldnt need to premix, unless some previous owner did away with the oil injection....
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Whoa, maybe that's part of the problem, pre-mixed my fuel that I ran thru yesterday! Are you sure on this? There is place on right side of crank case to add oil, also thanks for link to airbox, will purchase asap--Junior can't wait to ride, says he wants to snorkel it???? Imagine snorkel on 2 stroke! He's hung around dad's BR 250 2 long!

Those automatically update based on how many posts you have.

Make sure the premixer is working before you rely on it. See if there's oil in the two stroke oil tank (not the gearbox) and then pull the oil line off of the carb. Turn the engine over and see if two stroke oil pumps through the line.

The oil plug/fill on the side of the motor is for regular oil(10w30 etc). There is a plastic oil tank under the seat for 2 stroke pre-mix oil. Follow the line down and it should connect to the oil injector. Like Thorpe said, check the pipe and the baffles. Carbon builds up real bad on some 2 strokes and that will definately hamper the output of the motor. If the pipe is really bad, the exhaust port may be full of carbon as well.
