It is on the right side under the small plastic cover. 10w-40 and 2.2 quarts if you completely drain it.

You would do good to look around for a manual for it. All of that kind of information is in it and with machines this old you will be doing work on it.

my owner manual says...I mean AFTER describing the differential for 2 pages, syas make sure you use the correct oil.

    but DOESN'T say what KIND!!!

3 point 3 ounces of 80 weight hypoid gear oil....like less than 1/2 a coffee cup.

    ps

make SURE that oil filter is in correctly in sequence.

cover with 2 TWO o rings

and then there are 2 TWO ways to put the filter in backwards or with the spring in the wrong side

so no oil gets to the head and can destroy it within minutes.

Look on page 2-1 of your manual under "lubrication". It lists the type of oil and the amount. The gear oil goes in the differential. The engine and differential are two separate sections of the manual.

I sent my 81 year old dad out on the dunes on my 87br after some convincing and the smile on his face when he returned was priceless.

He came back laughing that he felt 25 years old again.

Hey Nath, be sure to use the Honda oil filter instead of aftermarket. I have found a major difference in oil clarity after a bit of driving. Also I switched over to synthethic Amsoil ATV oil and love it..Consider it!!
