    timing question

Hello I have a 200m which I got a few days ago not running. I have question about timing, if the timinig is out by one or two teenth will it cause it to not run right when I mean that its not reving up and back firing? The stock carb and pipe were both damaged but i was abile to get it running but didn't run right. So I put the carb and pipe off my 200x on it (ebay carb and dg manifold and pipe) still doesn't rev up and still back fires. The olny time it runnes is when the choke is on. I tryed to move the needle in the carb, it made it run alittle better but not much. is my 200x carb part of the problem or is it maybe timing? You can see that some one had the rocker arm cover off and the intake had silicone all around them. thanks for your help Aaron

Even one tooth out can really screw up the timing. Timing on 4 stroke engines is pretty critical.

Actually, it seems like your carb is running super lean.(Runs better when chokeis off= too much air) I bought one of the chiniese carbs, and it was not jetted correctly. When i built my enigne, i had the timing advanced by one tooth for about two weeks. Started perfect, idled perfect, and had good power. But when i noticed it, and fixed it, it made a large difference. You should check the cdi, check the gap between the rotor and the little black box. Also, you valve clearence. They should be at .003 of an inch. good luck.

^ If your out of time 200X ran "perfect, idled "perfect" and had good power, whats it got now?? Beyond perfect??

It would be on thing if you said "I could tell it was off a bit, it hesitated or backfired" etc; But no, you said it was perfect.

This is the stuff that confuses people. You said before you built your own engine from scratch, had the manual but set it a tooth off and it was "perfect".

Not trying to bust your balls here, just trying to understand your idea of "perfect"; I guess next was "superb"?? :

Is there something i did to you?? Why does it have to idle better now that the timing is fixed? That was the whole point of saying it was perfect. That it still ran GREAT with the timing a tooth off. When i say perfect, i mean it did not have problems. JUST like it does now. It did not run so bad that it was noticeable. I just happened to be double checking stuff, and noticed it. You really need to back off dude. I'm not sure what i did to you, and i appologize for whatever that might be. But this is not the first time you have tried to bust my balls. What does me building my own engine have anything to do with this??
It's a figure of speech man. Lay off.
