Hello all! My name is Toby Willis, and I'm proud to be a new member! My first trike was a Suzuki 'Trail Buddy' 50, yellow and black. My father restored it (unsure of the year model) and I got it for a Christmas present at 7 years old. No telling how many miles I put on it, I wish I had a picture of it. When I was 8 I caught my first glimpse of an '85 Big Red, and I remember thinking that the removable spotlight was the coolest thing! Throw in the shaft drive, reverse, and electric start, and it was an instant classic! Fast forward 20 years and several four-wheelers later (I currently own an '09 Honda Foreman and '10 Honda Recon for the wife, both with my own custom touches) I finally found a deal last week on a driveable-condition Big Red! Picked it up off of the original owner, runs and drives perfect, everything works! I'm planning a full resto, and as you'll notice in the pictures, the first two things to happen will be to pick up the right side engine cover (will eventually get all new plastic), and try to find a metal tank to restore. The old man changed to plastic 15 or so years ago, and trashed the metal. After the resto the plastic tank will look very out of place. I would also appreciate any advice on aftermarket wheels and regular ATV tires. Not a fan of the floating knobbies, although they have their uses. Sorry for the long post guys, just an introduction! P.S.....what jet/pipe combo have any of you tried that works well to open this thing up a little? Enjoy the pics!![]()
