    YTM Carb help please!!

Alright guys, I was riding my 84YTM 200 today for about 20 mins. Parked it in my garage came back out about 1 1/2 later to find a huge gas leak on my garage floor. It was coming from the carb looked like it was leaking from the hole on the flange where the air box house hooks up. When I push the throttle it let more out so what is causing this to happen it has done it before but not this bad.

Most likely a stuck float or worn needle and seat in the carburetor. I would get the problem addressed, then always turn the petcock to the off position when not riding.

are talking about about the needle valve assembly if so it is brand new or are you talking about the needle from the throttle cable. I was wondering if it could be becuz I don't have a return line fromthe carb back to the tank. Also I can't cold start it with out spraying gas in the carb would this be the same problem as the gas over flow thanks alot for help guys

Did you install the float correctly (flat part down) and adjust it?

Did you take out the starter jet and clean it? It's in the flange of the carb bowl.

If not, soak it with PB Blaster and get a screw driver that fits perfect, so you don't strip it.

yep I installed the right way , how do I adjust it ,its just a pin that holds it. The starter jet was out and soaked for a while and blew out with the aire hose. Would it be the throttle cable in any way becuz when I turn the handbars to the left it pulls the cable and revs it up. Also are these suppost to have a return fuel line to hte tank.

The "return line" is a vent.

To adjust the float, carefully bend the tab that presses against the needle.

So Mike if I reading this right when the needle valve is seated the float and carb body should have 21-22 mm between them. Since the return is just a vent do I even need a hose hooked up farther up the chassis or no. So there is deff. no chance that the throttle needle is the problem here right. thanks for the great help guys

    Yes for the float.

You need to reroute/adjust that cable, having it rev up when you turn, is not good.

The vent hose goes up under the tank, to keep crap out of it. Maybe there's another reason, never really thought about it. I would put it on.

I sent the service data to your email, did you ever get it?
