    2001 Blaster.

There is an 01 blaster for sale by me and I am thinking about trading my car for it. My cars needs some work but to me it is a project, and a toy, the blaster is ready to go. here is the link to the craigslist ad http://binghamton.craigslist.org/rvs/2280245549.html , no picture i will check it out tomorrow, i was just wondering what i have to look out for with these. Its not my first time on a machine i have just been away from it for awhile, I have ridden blasters before and remember them being quite snappy for the size but i was also about 80 punds lighter at the time, i am about 250, is it to small for me. also how buildable are these machines and how reliable are they afterwards, i know they are reliable stock if taken care of. thanks for any help.

I am about 5'10" and 210lbs and my knees almost hit the handle bars on a Blaster. They are great beginner bikes but beyond that they are pretty small. Brakes are poor even when they are working properly, chain adjustment sucks, and typical Yamaha quality as far as stripped nuts and bolts. I have a trx250r that has a rhino lined frame and I hate it. Nothing fits right because the stuff is so thick.

Front brakes are bearable, rear brakes are a real headache but you can convert to disc, they are sort of compact and small framed but they are not what I would call cramped (I'm 6ft 175), parts are plentiful and cheap, (I would bypass the oil injection and run pre-mix but thats just a personal preference) They are about the only choice for a 2t sport quad unless you go for the big $ and build a Banshee, TRX250r or a Tecate4

Well I'm a short guy at 5' 7" so the knee clearence shouldnt be much of a problem. I planned on undoing the oil injection, usually do on anything 2 stroke have ever had, they work great till they stop working lol.
