My clarks tank was the same. U hafta put some muscle n spread it to fit. It's designed for a snug fit. Over time it'll stay but a new clarks tank must b man handled. Shrouds I had to drill n holes. I had new maier shrouds n I drilled holed to fit since they weren't pre drilled

Mine didn't fit my SX back in 1998 without some work either.

Now I only use IMS and the fit/finish/quality seem to be better..........

I had to push mine on with my chest as I spreaded it apart with both hands, but as Cattle-dog said, my shrouds came off my factory metal tank and bolted right up. That part would concern me.

thanks for all the help. I put it on the heater vent in the house for an hour and still had to lube up mounts and give it hell!! The rear mounts are nowhere close, had to drill new hole in one side and the other will need a plate made. I am pretty dissappointed with it....my last one from clarke. It is better than risking a leak anyway.....just did not trust the jb weld. It really does not mesh well with fenders and I also had to redrill aftermarket shrouds?? Wow.........what a load of work for that much money..... Thanks

My clarke tank is an older one. It fits my x fine. The shrouds bolted right up without have to re-drill any holes. The rear fenders match up pretty well.

the one i just sold to bkm fit great. they are all snug on the rubbers, you can shoot some air in the petcock, and it spreads it right out, and slips right on. No issues with boltholes or mounting shrouds. Hope it fits yours bkm as good as it fit mine!

Absolutely. Just snug like you said, manhandled it a little and she went right on.

I think you got the wrong tank. You should have questioned Clarke before altering the tank and making it non-returnable. I bought my tank 4 months ago. The quality in Clarke tanks, as stated above, has not dropped that bad since then. You should not have had to redrilled any holes or made any brackets. It is just an issue of spreading the bottom open a bit.

If it's a 350X tank it will have 2 plastic teardrops on the back lower point of the tank for the 350X for 8MM mounting bolts clearance, the rear does not mount like a 200X.........

The 200X may have one center bolt in the back, I forget. Someone with a 1st generation can let you know......

How about a pic? I have an old 350X Clarke in the shop. It fits, wanna buy it?
