    Why Honda, Why?

Please help!!!!! I have an '86 350x with a sprocket bolt issue. Somewhere along its life, somebody put an axle in it from an '85x. Recently I bought a new LSR bearing carrier and a rear 40t sprocket for an '86 (so that it would have the countersunk heads needed for clearance for the lsr carrier). I just cant seem to find these bolts (part# 90114-HA5-670) anywhere. Local honda dealer says that part had been discontinued. The servicehonda website says the same thing. Has anybody else stumbled upon this issue before? Maybe the bolts from another machine might be the same. I know the newer 250r s have a narrower sprocket hub therefore also has shorter bolts. The same is true for all the other newer sport quads(250x, 300ex, 400ex, 450r). Those bolts only allow me to get 3 turns of the nut when used on my sprocket/hub combination. I hope that somebody can help me where honda couldnt.

Chill for a bit then take a look at this web sight. If they don't have the right bolt ,bracket, nut or faster in stock.....it doesn't exist

The axles are the same, its the sprockets that are different. I ran into the same problem as you. I just bought a bunch of parts bikes and might have an extra set of the '86 bolts if your interested.

Mcmaster has S.S. flat head allen bolts, 10MM x 1.50, get fully threaded unless you know the exact length. I get them long so they'll fit other applications.

I got a box of nuts/washers and lock washers too because I use them often........

Thanks for all of you that shed some helping light on me during my time of need. I ordered m10 x 35mm, i just hope that the angle of the taper is the same. And thanks BKM for offering me some bolts from your personal stash. I still may need them if the others didn't work for me.

    They will work fine.

It's probably 82 degrees versus a metric taper but it's all I run with no loosening issues at all........ They must be very close or spot on.

Still looking for those sprocket bolts. The mcmaster bolts had too much slop for me, im afraid of shearing them off somewere about mid-wheelie and smashing my case. The original bolts have a shaft that is a little thicker that the threaded part of the bolt. I havent been able to locate an 86 parts machine around here so my beloved trike is out back getting a suntan through a blue tarp(at least i cant hurt her there).

fastenal. should be one local to you. my local hardware store also has them. you may have to get a longer bolt for it to have the shoulder then cut them to length

Do you have at least one bolt? If so, then you could bring it to a machine shop and have them cut a few new bolts on a lathe. Won't be cheap but it would work. Not sure about the hardening process though.

I have the 85 bolts (no taper, same length) and the 86 sprocket. I guess that would work. A local Honda dealer gave me a number for a machine shop that he uses when he is stuck with his own projects. I was just looking for a cheaper way out. I have too many projects going on. If im not riding it i guess i wont be breaking it.
