    Cheap Sunglasses

Great, now I'll have ZZ Top in my head all day.

I'm sick of crap drugstore sunglasses. They have terrible distortion either off the shelf or 5 minutes after you buy them. I used to wear Oakleys, which were truly amazing in terms of clarity, but I avoided them because I tend to lose sunglasses. The last pair is at the bottom of a quarry near my house. But it's been 7 years and 17 pairs (or so) since my last pair of Oakleys, so I decided to look some up. Then I said, out loud, "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? $200? REALLY?" So I thought I'd ask, what do you guys wear? I've got goggles for riding, but those aren't tinted either, so they're not too good in bright sunlight, and I really need something good for driving and riding my mountain bike.

I have a pair of Black Flys Sonic Fly sunglasses. The Black Flys fit great. I also have a pair of Spy Logan's. I like the look of the Logans better but the arm have a little part that rubs into the bone above my ear, so the pain makes me adjust them above my ear a little after a few hours of use. Spy now sells a limited edition Monster Ken Block edition Logan that I want. Black Flys sells a Fly Detector Limited Tattoo edition I would also like to have.

Sonic Fly on the left, Spy Logan on the right. I pictured them with the holder they come with. For the same price for both ($120) the Black Flys come with a hard case. Which is really nice. They are both polarized. As far as the extra price for polarized sunglasses go, the way they protect your eyes makes it 100% worth the extra money. I've driven for 4 or 5 hours head on into the sun with no problems. Something you can't say with regular unpolarized sunglasses.

As far as Oakley's go I would love to have a pair of Oakley Gascans.

Berkley fishing sunglasses at Wal-Mart. They were like $12 and I have used them almost every day its been sunny for the past 5 months and they are just as they day I bought them. I have a fat head and I have trouble finding a pair that won't give me a migrain headache from wearing them, but these are wide and very comfortable. I wear them on average 12 hours a day when I'm at work.

They are light and I forget they are on top my head a lot of times.

Years ago I bought a used pair of Oakley blades from a friend, and they had a bronze-ish lens that turned everything yellow but everything had amazing contrast. I bought several more pairs, because I would lose them, and after a while they stopped making that color and I gave up. Then I tried again and they had a color called persimmon, but nothing really came close. I've been looking for a good pair of high contrast sunglasses ever since. If someone could find that color lens with that clarity, I'd probably pay whatever it cost, but for a plain old gray lens that reduces your vision, forget about it. As for those Ray-Ban aviators, I know they're...um....back in fashion, but I like a modern more wrap-around that keeps light and crap coming in from the sides.

For Work I have Oakley Crosshairs, with a VR28 lens, Aviator styling for excellent coverage with very little perimeter leaks (no glare on the back of the lens).
    http://ca.oakley.com/products/2064/5613

Good not work sunglasses are Oakley Square wires, VR28 polarized lens (similar to these)
    http://ca.oakley.com/products/6199/22472

I even wear Oakley prescription glasses (Straightline 4.0). Have had the same frames for almost 8 years, They have, without a doubt been the most rugged and best wearing/fitting glass frames I have ever had. About once a year I replace the nose pcs and ear socks and they are good to go again.
Oakley also really has good service on there glasses as well, On my crosshairs a couple years ago i bent the frames pretty good and the lens kept popping out, sent them back and for a $50 one price fixes all I got a brand new set back.
