Depends on what you need. The '89 stator has a different plug end than the rest of the years but it can work. '85 cdi, wiring harness, and switch, is different from all the other years.

are the heads the same? and are the trx 250r motors the same?could i get an 89 wirings harnes to accommodate the other electrical?

It would be easier to modify the '89 stator to your harness. The mounts, heads are all interchangable.
