    Replacement Tank for 86' ATC250R

Been looking at ebay at getting a new tank for the 250R. Clarke makes a nice looking tank, has anyone had any experience with these tanks? how do the holes line up, general shape compared to OEM etc.

    Here's an exact link: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Gas-Tank-Fuel-Pet...item53e73d7a48

    Thanks guys.

Honestly, I would not waste the big money for a aftermarket tank unless you want a different color or larger size tank.
Your stock tank can be polished out in no time, with minmal effort and cost, or you could have Mr clean on the forums do it for you for a decent price.
I have polished a few and they look just about new when done.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

I agree with Mosh. With the resources we have on the site here, unless you want an oversized tank there really is no reason not to restore your OEM tank. PM Mr. Clean and ask what he would charge to redo yours or he might have one he is willing to sell.

Mine has chips in it, and I cant buff those out, there's only so much wetsanding you can do before gas starts to come out :P I have all new maier plastics and was going to get the tank to match since this ones kinda a different red now being the only old piece of plastic on it.

Another one here that agrees with Mosh, many tanks out there to polish!!

Not a ton of trikes came with plastic tanks, metal ones are tough to restore 100% and aftermarket tanks don't always fit well and you cannot have one color scheme, you have to mix it up with an AM tank...........

I plan on getting mine wrapped in vinyl to match my carbon look fenders. Can you think of a full tank wrap design you would like. Cheaper than buying a new tank. I have a spare tank but it's been painted black

Agreed on restoring a stocker. Different color or more capacity is the only reason to buy aftermarket.

"TANKS" everyone for the reference as a "go to guy" for refinishing these tanks.

Post a pic of your current tank. I am to the point where I refinish these things in my
    sleep.

Here is one I did recently.

Sure, I did the headlight garnish on BKM's 350x and he seemed pretty happy. Send me a PM and some pics of the garnish.

I know what you've got newfiefish, I have three tanks that have black spiderweb cracks so bad that there are pcs of plastic flaking off the outside like rust on steel. Totally unfix-able.
Look for good used or IMS makes an oversize

    clarke makes the stock replacement

i know Clarke's quality on the 1st gen Tecate tanks was very poor, but I don't know about the R tank.
