like the title says, i'll be swapping an axle that is bent, is there anything i should be extra careful or watch out for? i do have a shop manual for it

A torch is sometimes handy if its never been off. The axle nuts take huge ass wrenches and are reverse threads.

Thank you much, i believe it has been out before because i believe the actual owner had swapped the wheel bearings.
If its been off before it should be no problem. Key work "should". Remove the brake caliper and bracket, loosen the axle nuts and remove the locking clip, splined sleeve and axle nuts, hubs, chain and sprocket, and slide it out from right to left if your looking at the back of the bike.
