scored an 87for the collection! on the cheap too!

money and location were right so i said what the hell! i feel i did great. aside from the looks this thing seems rock solid!! nothing bent or beat looking. it just took an absolute beating from the sun!! quite a bit of old camo paint to remove!! needs an airbox, new keyed ignition, seat cover, and the tank is shot. Have a spare 85 tank in nice shape, and a nos 86 tank. seems to have new rear fenders, and they are in great shape with no cracks, and they have excellant finish overall, some light scratches from use. they must have been replaced, as the trunk lid and headlight have significant sun damage. has 3 new kenda scorpion tires. starts easy, sounds great. didnt run but for a second, as there is no filter, hopefully it wasnt run to long sucking unfilterd air through the carb!! lots of cosmetic work, but i am happy!! i gave 250.00 for it. enjoy the pics!!

Great score. It still has the tool box also, that is cool. Use brake fluid on a rag and soak the paint on the fenders real good. It will wipe right off and won't harm the plastic. I found this out on a 350x front fender after I had sanded half the old paint off. The rest of the fender looks new where I used the brake fluid.

thanks for the tip!! i tried a few mild things, but didnt work great. brake fluid makes sense, as i def eats paint, and the fluid res is plasic! need something to get it off the motor, the oem paint underneath looks great.

yep hit it with brakekleen and if the previous owner didn't prep very well, you can very likely just knock the solvent-soaked paint off with a pressure washer.

i told my wife it was for her!! its mine of course, but i already have a cherry 85! i figure it would be perfect for her. only thing is she is already talking about a pink and white color sceme!! i would rather make it look original, but thats no fun for her. either way, it aint gonna get to much love for awhile. prob just fix the obvious, give it a tune up, and run it rusty for awhile.. gotta get some other projects done first!
