Can the folks in the midwest really cook pizza and steaks on their dashboards?

They're telling us 30 million people are over 100 degrees
and showing sidewalks and GREENgrass showing 130 degrees.

    Hope everyone's ok.

'They' say the baddest natural disaster in US history was the Chicago heat wave of
1994? so I guess it's nothing to fool with.

I think it was 105 with a heat index of 115 for the past few days here. Heat waves kill more people each year then all of the natural disasters combined. Relief will come Tuesday when its only supposed to be 88.

yeah, cnn showed those laser temp shooter things absurdly high.
    sidewalks, pavement, green grass,
cooking eggs on the sidewalk and the guy actually ate the pizza he cooked right off the
NY city sidewalk, I guess that was the weather channel, 'cause everyone said' "ewwwwwww!"

yep, about 115 index around here as well. little better today though it felt a couple degrees cooler, maybe 105? my shed with no windows sits in the sun all day. everyday i grab my mower and dang near get blisters because the handle is so burning hot. the gas cans swell so bad they almost look like funny red footballs.

careful and take it easy out there, remember to keep hydrated and take a lot of short breaks if your going to be working out in this stuff.

EDIT: this kind of thread always reminds me of a buddy's family that visited from Las Vegas one summer. they were all "100? heck, it's 120 in the shade back in Vegas!" few weeks later summer set in and they got to feel REAL humidity for the first time (100* with 85%humidity). needless to say they went back to Vegas the following week.

Not sure about cooking on it, but when I got in my truck yesterday the dash had cracked down the middle from the heat. I was pretty pissed about it, but oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Been pretty hot here as well, too hot to work in the garage even late at night. It's insulated and when we pull the cars in after work they heat it up like a sauna. I just went out there at 9:30 and the thermometer still said 90 even though it's down to about 80 outside.

It has been 95 plus here ALL week with a heat index of 105 or better. Dew points at 70-75.
When you walk outside from AC it feels like you are standing in front of a 350,000 BTU torpedo heater.
I work on cars in a non AC shop. The thermometer was reading 100 all week hanging over, or standing under cars with 300 degree engines.
I hate the heat..It sucks. At this point I am not sure what is better.
18 inches of snow and 20's, or this rediculous humid heat.
Definately this has been a year of extremes. Massive rain, lots of snow and stupid heat.
Last week a community near us got 7 inches of rain in 3 hours.
They called it a 1000 year deluge.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

I remember walking across a parking lot in Sacramento at 10pm
and the asphalt parking lot was still 140*.
The restaurant required a dinner jacket, so I left.
