Great show about them on the history channel last week.

Sometimes they have the write-up for download.

Well I didn't expect there to be a thread already, but since people are already on this one yes! It is a magnificent rifle in my opinion and I plan on collecting many more! I would love a nice M44, I also desire some Finnish ones too x] And the round I can imagine has plenty of stopping power I plan on hunting with my Nagant this rifle season x]

My 91/30 is wicked fun to shoot, and yeah DRKCYDE if you like shootin' for fun a Mosin would be a great reliable choice, and for that price you can't go wrong I mean you can buy 400 rounds for a little under $100 and I actually prefer my Mosin action over my grandpa's Lee Enfield, I am not good with the cock on close action (accidental discharge once scared the hell outta me)

I believe mine is a 1932, its either 1932 or 1952, but it looks like 1932, i may be wrong, i love it, was covered in gunk when i bought it tho, was a mess to clean. Will have to look up the info on it online, i believe it was at the arsenal in Tula, Russia at one time, and i cant remember what the other markings were that i found. Nice shooting gun although i don't shoot it too often, rub it down with Rem Oil every two weeks tho

In my opinion, once you've got the feel of one, either the shorter carbine, or the full length Mosin, and throw on a nice scope, they are one of the best long range rifles to have. I've bought and sold a few over the last couple years, and I'm looking for an M-44 to use as a mid-range amateur target shooter. Friend of mine has one that's been sporterized, nice, multi-vision scope mounted on a side mount so he can keep the irons, flat quick action bolt, full plastics(which I don't like on a gun), and custom irons, and he kept the original bayonet mounted on it. It's an M-44, and I want it. SO BAD.
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

Yup. I cheated and used brake cleaner on some of the tricky areas (sights for one) worked great
