A little help with my 81 Honda ATC 200

Hey guys, this is a great site with a lot of knowledge. I'm a newby, so I doubt I can contribute much to it but hopefully the answers I get will help somebody in the future. Anyways, I just bought
my daddy-in-law's 81 Honda ATC 200. The thing looks great for a Mississippi trike (where we typically run the heck out of them and don't do any maintenance). I'll try to get some pics up soon, but I had a few questions.

First, does anybody have a manual that they wouldn't mind sharing? I'd certainly appreciate it.

I plan on changing the oil and getting a new spark plug, but is there any other fairly simple maintenance things that I can do to it (ie change the rear end fluid, grease certain areas). What would
you guys do if you just bought a running bike and wanted to make sure everything was fresh?

Also, do they make a left handed throttle for these things? My daddy-in-law lost his right hand in an oil field accident and so he moved the throttle to the left side. Works fine, but looks funny. He
didn't really want to sell it, so I want to keep it where he is able to ride it still.

Finally, this thing cranks on the first pull everytime but he says it will flood out if you fill the gas tank up too much. Any ideas what that is about?

I'm sure I'll come up with some more questions, but thanks for any help you have to offer.

I would oil the chain a bit, they are geat bikes. it was my first trike i ever got, rode the hell outta it though. i think you can get a left throttle off ebay probably

Complete maint. procedures will be in the manual; I'd start by changing the oil, checking the gas tank for crud, replacing the fuel and air filters as necessary (as well as any bad gas), change the diff. oil, check/adjust the valve clearances, lube/adjust brake cables, levers, and clutch as necessary.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I can't find my model on there. I'm sure it is, I just probably don't know what I'm looking for. Many thanks for the advice on what to do though. A little more help with locating a manual would be greatly appreciated.

If it's got a differential and electric start, I'm guessing it's probably a Big Red. Other members on here will be able able to help identify which model it is better than I, especially if you post up some pics.I know there is a link to an ATC VIN decoder floating around here somewhere, but I don't have the time to find it for ya. Do a search and it'll probably pop-up. Also, click on the tab to "Old 3WW" at the top of this page and you'll find all kinds of useful info, such as Honda ATC specs for all years & models, and full color brochures as well. If you still can't find your manual, if you ask MonroeMike nicely enough he may be able to provide a free manual download for you.

Thank all of ya'll very much, especially for the manual. I was able to find a VIN decoder and that was how I identified it. It doesn't have electric start or anything fancy, so I knew it wasn't a Big
Red. I'll get some pics up soon. Gonna go work on it now. Thank yall.

In truth your model is the predecessor to big red 25" tires on 9" rims, also has a black lidded tool box between the rear fenders. I have one as well there is no differential, it is chain driven, manual say 90w gear oil as they are enclosed o-ring chains. I would definitely check ebay for a left hand throttle. Make sure to check the steering stem bearings as well they tend to get loose and wear out over the years, also check the rear carrier as it is a hard tail and those bearings wear out as well. Change or clean your air filter. Drain and put some new hondalube or yamalube oil in there and a nice new ngk iridium spark plug they are guaranteed not to foul even if you are burning a little oil. I also recommend cleaning the gas tank and the carb but be sure to use the manual for that. On a side note take good care of the plastics as they are extremely hard to find oems any more.
