I started smoking Reds when I was like 13. About a pack a week. Within 2 years it was a pack a day. I quit over 5 years ago cold turkey. Just told myself no more. I smoked for close to 20 years. Tried a few times to quit, but this last time has been the longest. What I did this time was instead of staying away from cigerette smoke at work or out at a bar was I just hung and delt with it. Seemed to work for me. Plus instead of telling myself to wait 10 seconds when I wanted one. I told myself to wait till tomorrow. It helps alot. I stopped watching the clock waiting for 10 seconds to go by.

The drinking part would probably get me but have been sober from that almost a year(Dec. 13). Im a recovering boozer and figured I done to many bad things when I was drunk and did a little time for it in 05-06. Im an idiot when I drink so I just stay away but that is one thing that I fight on a daily basis. People go riding and always drink, partys, holidays, etc. Its everywhere but I think if I can kick the booze problem I should be able to do this. Well see!! Now I need a drink and a smoke, ha ha!
Nice to hear some good honest talk. We all have our demons and they are hard to beat. 1 day smoke free is great! Its kinda like your first true love breaking up with you. You couldn't breathe, eat, sleep without thinking about her every second. As time went on those seconds turned to minutes And minutes to hours. After awhile you might go a few days without thinking about her.
Fast forward a few years and look at you now

I tell my kids that at least 10 times a day!! I dont even know where I got it from or maybe even made it up, not sure but been saying it for a long time now and its stuck in my vocabulary! I been telling myself this a few times today. I actually started restoring a first gen Tecate tank that another member asked me about but cant remember who it was. This seems to be working for me really good, along with chewing gum. My jaw muscles are gonna be stronger than Chuck Norris in a week. Ha ha!
    Just sit back and chillaxx

I am also quitting, my reason was born on Monday Nov. 28. Her name is Hadley Rene and is a beautiful baby girl. I bought her a Suzuki alt50 a few weeks ago and I am taking my smoke money to fix it up for her. I am actually still at the hospital with her and mom. I finally realized its time to quit, I'm outside in the damn snow smoking like an idiot.

I'm not a smoker, but chocolate ice cream and soda are my two bugaboo's.

Good luck 84t3 you can do it. My grandfather smoked since he was 12 years old and at age 63 the doctor told him quit or he'll be dead in a year. He quit cold turkey and managed to live another ten. He was up to close to 5 packs a day and that's not an exaggeration either. If he can do it anyone can.

Man, I about lost it! Was craving one pretty bad and decided to get my brothers old tack shoes out and go for a run! Wow, its been a while. Probably didnt even run a mile and was ready to die! I used to run a mile before I even stretched out to get warmed up when I was in high school (11 yrs ago). I used to be pretty good at track and finished 13th in the state for long jump when I was a junior and then 9th when I was a senior and 17th in the tripple jump in the state. Used to love to run and today felt good until I couldnt breath and taste blood- probably coming from my lungs. Im gonna keep it up and try to run when I can to help my lungs clean up good and fast! Good job badass!!! We can do this man!
