The "runs strong" line always seems to razz me, usually if "runs strong" is in the description the rest of the bike is very clapped out.

I think the old paper Cycle Trader is out of business? I know it disappeared long ago in AZ. At least when it was around the $25 for a 2 week listing kept all the poor ignorant squids from posting.

Must have been about 5 years ago, when things were high priced and worth it.

Craigslist was for a "Mint, OEM, low hour 86 350X"; I think it was 2500$ which I was willing to pay.

Put the $$ in my back pocket and headed down. Took 10 kicks to get it running. Smoked - "don't worry, that clears up", bent bars and grab bar, dead tires, beat up all around.

I tried to explain to him that I knew trikes, they had a decent following and his ad was very misleading.

I didn't even make an offer because he thought it was mint no matter what I pointed out.

Not sure what they paid, but someone bought it............

Just found one today...."i got a 1985 250es big red three wheeler got dented gas tank and some cracks in plastics but got em stiched up needs cheap gasket sealer cost like 5 bucks good 3 wheeler call or tex"

Now if its just sealer that only cost $5 why wouldn't you fix that yourself before you try to sell it?

Why is every 250r, 350x, and 200x always an '86. I wish I had a dollar for every '85 bike that was listed as an '86.

I know this thread is a few months old .But I will ad to it. I read an article a couple months ago for a 250r.It read something like this. For sale 86 250r .Its the only year it was liquid cooled and it is RARE NOT MANY MADE .He was asking like $2500-$3000.I wanted to correct him. Also it pains me to see a seller start a wheeler and rev the crap out of it when you go look at it.After they tell you it runs great ,starts on first kick .Then when they get it started the seller jams it in gear and rods the piss outa it .Then they want you to still buy it.

how about: "Has a few minor scratches" or "Has a few small cracks" and "hardly even noticeable". When you get there the "minor scratches" are starting to show through the other side, the "Few small cracks" is the fender frankend back together and the first thing you notice when you walk up is the "hardly even noticeable" things..lol

Or how about the "Fires right up 1st of 2nd kick" when you arrive and it take 30 kicks to get it to start and smokes...

But hey it is a gem in the rough right

There was a guy on kijijji (canada's craiglist) who said he had a 1983 200e for sale and listed some of the attributes of it, some of which included reverse and shaft drive so I told him that the 83 200e neither had reverse or shaft drive and he sent an email back saying I don't care what you say my 83 200e does have that

When i bought my 83 200e, seller was telling me it was an 81 200s. i tell him, look at the frame sticker. "i used an aftermarket frame" ... 200s had dual range? also, it had an atc 200 fork on it. "those are stock forks" ... this kid shot him self in the foot with a gun he stole few weeks after. Just goes to show how smart he is lol

i went to look at a 200s, he said tires were great, ran strong and looks good. i got there, he said tires will hold enough air for one day, it did not even have a carb on it so how could it possibly run, and plastics were all broke up. and he was trying to get 400 for it. haha

I bought my sx from a guy. Drove 4 hours for it. "its 100 percent there except front brake cable" runs great. i get there 3 flat tires, no lights, no battery, no grab bar, fenders all cracked to . But i had 150 in gas there, so i gave 350 for it and rebuilt it. I hate downright liars. Just tell me what you have before i waste my time and money. Got a speeding ticket that night too. my first one. Made the deal that much better!!.

Ah yes... overlooked that. Haha. I'm not to knowledged on three wheelers just yet. But, i think 400 is still a fair starting point. I have seen less sell for more.

    "KING OF 3 WHEELERS!!!"

"THIS C***S***** WILL FLAT OUT SMOKE ANY BANSHEE!!"

(I s*** you not, that was in an ad for a beat to s*** 83 250R, which stated it was OEM inside the engine )

"BADDEST 3 WHEELER ON CLIST!" which was an ad for a pretty good condition 350X, aside from the broken rear fender and dented tank.

"MOST POWERFUL 350X ON THE PLANET!! PIPED AND JETTED, STOCK ENGINE!"

Sometimes, I just want to hit myself with a bat.
