Cool Believe it or not, I'm 50 and have owned my 250R for more than 25 years!

I actually own 2 1985 ATC250Rs, one of which I purchased brand new in August of 1984. Here it is:

Starting from the intake, the mods include:

Open air box (no lid, no front snorkel boot)
    K&N Air Filter
    38mm Mikuni Flatslide carb
    Boyeson Dual Stage Reeds
    3/8" Reed Cage Spacer
    Trinity Stage III Porting
    Weisco Piston
    Answer Roost Boost Ignition Enhancer
    Barnett Clutch
    Bill's Exhaust Pipe & Silencer
    Hi-Flite desert seat
    Cooler Rack
    Light & brake reservoir guards
    GPS mount

I run 12/39 gearing with Skat Trak 22x11-8 8-paddle Haulers, and run almost exclusively in the sand dunes of Glamis California. This is my baby, and no one rides it except me.

My wife (48 yrs old) also rides a 1985 ATC250R (she also prefers the 3 wheeler over the quads). Hers is mostly stock, with the open airbox, K&N Filter, and Bill's pipe & silencer. She runs stock gearing and 21x12-8 Skat Trak Haulers. Here she is:

BTW, I also own a 2007 TRX400, mainly for the kids and other friends that we take to the dunes, as well as a 1985 Yamaha BW200 2-wheeler.

I grew up riding motorcycles in the deserts of SoCal, and spent a number of years racing in the desert back in the 70s & 80s. Glad to be a member of this site, and look forward to contibuting relevant knowledge, as well as gaining knowledge too.

Wow, Nice rides! It's nice to see someone take care of a machine. Seeing all that rideable sand make me jealous. Out here in CT we have trees rocks stumps snow and mud. It is fun but the equipment takes a beating. Welcome, I'm a new member too everyone here has been great!

The only thing they have in common is sand.. Waynoka has small dunes and not a whole lot of area to ride. Glamis has large dunes (Comp, Oldsmobile) and has miles and miles of open sand. Waynoka is good because it's the only dunes in the area besides Sycamore which is smaller in area. Glamis is a mind blowing place to ride.. as well as way more dangerous as far as witches eyes, and razorbacks. If you get a chance to go to Glamis, definitely go.

You won't see as many squids either.. flying around on alcohol banshees with no helmets and their girlfriend on the back.. It always amazes me when you see very few people with helmets on.. I also hate tearing up my paddles riding pavement to the entrance to the dunes.

But on the other hand, you can't ride your 3 wheeler into town and get a pizza at Glamis..

from July 5th to the 8th my brother in law is takin me to Waynoka for my 18th birthday. hes 26 and been goin since he was 8. hes never had anythin bad to say about it. he's gonna try to buy his mom's '85 or '86 Tecate trike and rebuild it to take with us. so for four people, we'll have my 200x, a Quadzilla LTR500, two LT250R's, one polaris, and possibly the Tecate. its gonna be an awesome trip

I wasn't trying to imply that it isn't fun... What I was trying to say is that until you've been to Glamis.. you wouldn't know any better.

    or how about this...

Going to the local dirt track races would be great, but just how awesome would it be to go to the Indianapolis 500..
