    86 200x direct engine swaps?

just acquired a 1986 200x, planning on building it,, gona need at least a bottom end,, the sprocket and kickstart are welded on! so my question is what engines will fit the 86 200x, i found a thread on 85's but haven't found anything to specific on the 2nd gen's yet.

I would get a 86-87 200sx quad moter , then you have 5 speed ,reverse, electric start , will bolt right in use the quad wiring to wire the starter good luck

Good luck with both of those, especially the 250ex - how do you plan to run the shaft drive on the chain driven 200x? Fatcat motors are similar but quite different. 200sx is also not a drop in - at least no one has shown a running rideable one yet - sounds like the motor will fit with small mods, but does it bolt right in no mods, no. Does everything line up for a working bike...don't know. Many motors will probably fit, it just depends how much modding you want to do to make it work. Find a 86-87 200x motor - not that hard to find on ebay or here.

So you have a motor, any mechanical skill? If so, why not rebuild the 200x motor? If not, want to sell the 200x motor? There is a member here that has the 200sx fitted into the x frame but that is it - and it did require at least 1 mod to fit. Maybe you will be the first to have a running 200sx motor in a 200x frame.

Here's a link to the other 200sx in 200x thread:

Looks like dirtcloud got the motor in there but hasn't finished the project yet. If you do a search I think someone tried putting a Yamaha Blaster engine in one too - not sure how it worked out, or if it was finished, but being a 2-stroke guy you may want to find that thread and member. Another member was building a CRF250 powered 200x, but then sold it before finished. No one is saying it can't be done...just how much fabbing do you want to do to get **** motor in there and lined up properly.

BTW - Thanks for the email - repied this morning.
