    Question temperature sticker & what is the normal running temp?

    does any one use these? i have an 86 250r and got a temp sticker. do these work good or acurate at all? and should i put it somewhere on the side of the jug or case? and if i do put it on the jug what is to high of a temp? any info would be great.

    rockymountainatv.com. i was gonna get a temp gage from esr but decided to try the stickers first. i think they were 12 bucks for 3 stickers. but i didnt know if any one has used them. my MAIN question was what is too high of a temp for a 86 250r

    lol im not auctaly sure on the high temp. mabey you could do just a google search on high temps for liquid cooled 2-stroke motors?? since most snowmobiles are.

    i jus wanted to know what to high was so i knew to see if this sticker actually worked or what? and so i dnt fry my engine. and i googled it for my trike and came up with nothing.

    well a car runs at about 190° +/- so I would think anything over 200° would be getting too hot...

    That sticker is gonna tell you how hot the outside of the engine is, not the coolant temp. You need an inline temp gauge like ESR sells.

    a good running temp is 170-225 on a liquid cooled and 225-285 for an air cooled

    ya i kno about esr temp gauge. but what do ya think the outside of jug would would be is my question. i should have asked it in a different way my bad. pretty much what do u think that sticker should read on the jug and what the shut off limit should be by reading that sticker.

    Who cares what the outside of the engine is, its not air cooled. You need to know coolant temp. The sticker is just not accurate enough to determine whats going on inside the engine.
