    Took the tecate mudding today

met up with a fridn and another guy to go riding today in a public quarry. it rained pretty hard here last nite so it was very muddy, and slick and snotty. which made it fun. i held my own against a 400ex and some arctic cat 500 4x4....until i went through a very deep mud hole completly forgetting about my open air filter...oops...got half way thru the hole and the tecate sputtered and died. i knew exactly what i did when it died,.. had to be pulled out. and called it a day

fast forward a few hours....15 dollars spent at the car wash to get the ole girl shining again. then i tore into it. pulled the air filter which was dripping wet... then took the carb off and saw i got some mud in there. then took the reeds out. saw they were wet but free from grit or mud. so i took the carb all apart and cleaned it. cleaned and dried the reeds, and air filter, put the girl together and 2nd kick she was happy again

it was fun. but i realized the tecate was a bit to highly strung for the riding in the quarry. i just couldnt get enough rpms built up to sling mud on the other guys like they could me lol...it doesnt make power till about mid or upper throttle

I've taken my Tecate through some mud slicks before, nothin like sliding all the way off the bike and hangin on by the back of your boot while pinned to bring a smile to your face :]
    My toys:
    '84 T3 red Parts bike
    '84 T3 green (runner)
'85 Tecate with an LT250r in it
    '04 Kawasaki KX250F

Don't blame the ride, blame the skill.

yea i got a few surprised reactions when i pegged it into a nice power slide through the mud then the tires would bite and pull a serious wheelie from the power band alone where as the 400ex had to dump the clutch to pull his front end up....the 500 4x4 couldnt even think about that. all he was good for is making ruts
