Selling an '83 Suzuki RM80 dirtbike. Bike has a full size frame (not a mini/juniour) plastics are yellow and flat black and frame and seat are blue. 80cc engine with Boyesen dual stage power reeds. Picture shows engine disassembled, however the block and head are included. Missing the piston (wore out the rings and never got around to replacing it. Moved out and have no room for it, parents want it gone!! Must sell, make an offer!

Discuss. i replyed and asked what the lowest he would take is and if he got the ownership for it, he replyed back with this:

It's a trail use only bike, no ownership. Have a full car fax report on it and all the paper work that was included when I bought it. Make me an offer and we'll go from there.

Thoughts? i plan on replying back and saying how it needs a Title or something to get Insurance to be ridden on the Trails. What else should i say?

Why would you need a title to get insurance? If you gave me the vin I could go insure it right now and it's not even in the same country

do you still have it? what other offers have you had? how about we start off at $100 because it may be kinda hard to insure for trail use without a ownership for it unless you have something else to prove ownership for it.

got this reply back:

It is an 80cc pit bike. No lights, no signals, no battery. Off road use only. It never came with an ownership! You'll have to do much better than that, don't insult me!

Edit: replyed back with this:

the best i could do for price is $200 Cash, but then i would need Cash to buy the Pistion and Rings and to get it Regestered at the MTO to get Insurance on it to legaly ride it on the trails. if you want more information, go to Service Ontario and ask them if it needs ownership or what it needs to have Off Road Liability Insurance.

Anyway, in most cases it is harder to find a place to ride a pit bike. To ride anywhere off your own property or a private track , you require a plate and insurance. Since a lot of pit bike have no ownership or VIN # this can be a problem. < can be close to a 5G fine >

You may be able to find a place to ride if you look under the " where to ride" section of this forum.

I have wondered the same thing myself the past few weeks. He posts up 5-10 machines a week and just posts a link with the word discuss. I dont mean to sound like an A#$%ole, but we are not your personal shoppers. Find something that totally interests you and fits your needs, and then go look at it, and before making an offer confir with the masses on here and see what they say if you want to before making a purchase.

He Replyed back with this:

200 cash is fine. The rings are always included with the piston as a package. I am not concerned about trail packages or what it needs for that. If your interested in that you'll have to figure it out for yourself.

I Plan on replying back and asking if he was the one who took the engine apart and if it's still apart and if so, if he could wait till i get the money to get the piston next month and get him to install it for me and i'll give him a bit more for it, but that he could still try to sell it while waiting, that if someone else get's it before me i wouldn't mind.

@bkm and Big Mike: i normally post the 3 wheelers i find on here for the Ontario Trikers incase they are looking for another trike or something and not looking outside their local area, if it's not 3 wheeler related, it usually means that i'm somewhat interested in it.

and i just thought about asking, What are the odds of the rear swingarm or whatever off a trike fitting on the 83 RM80? according to the Specs page on the old site, the only Suzuki Trikes for 83 was the ALT 50D Trailbuddy and the ALT 125D but they had no suspension so likely no swing arm to swap, what would you guys say would be most likely to work by looking at it? looking at specs for other 1983 Trikes with rear suspension, i have come across the YTM225DXK Tri-Moto, ATC 200X and ATC 250R.

I have to agree with a few others, it sounds like your looking more for a fight than a bike... You do realize that your looking at a bike that was built about seven years before you were born, rules/laws chance over the years but one thing is certain people tend to not ho through the hassle of titles for older off road bikes/trikes unless they have too, especially when your looking at buying insurance for something that you would be hard pressed to get an amount equal to your insurance premium for...

The odds of getting something to simply "bolt on" and go are not in your favor but I would suggest you don't convince yourself to use a swinger off of a 225, you'll be arguing with yourself for years trying to hook up the shaft
